About Me Hi, my name is Kerry, I am 37 and live in the UK. I am married with 3 children aged 10yrs, 6yrs and 6 months! I spent most of my younger years with the loves of my life…Horses! I was very active and back then I considered myself physically fit. I sometimes worked 60 hours a week with 3 or 4 different jobs at a time just to support the financial cost of my horses! I began to notice changes in my health probably the year before I got married (2001). I didn’t really worry at all about it, even when I had a miscarriage that year that left me really ill, I still just put it down to a bit of bad luck and was sure I would be fine. But things did get worse, much worse. After the wedding I had to give up my job as I was having more sick days than I was working days……Then I finally went to the doctors and had a year of constant tests during 2002. In 2003 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. At that time my world literally felt like it was falling apart. Things got dramatically worse and in 2004 not long after my first daughter was born I woke up one day virtually unable to move and spent the next 6 months unable to pick her up. I had falls down the stairs, tripped over nothing and spent up to 20 hours a day just sleeping, not from laziness but from blinding fatigue. Doctors did further tests and investigations but nothing, nothing they could do to help. In the end my husband had to give up work and become my carer full time, it was hell, financially for us both and physically for him. I became severely depressed and doctors pumped me full of anti depressant’s, insisting that they were sure I was postnatally depressed from the birth of my first child! They wouldn’t listen to me when I said it was the condition that was depressing me NOT my precious little baby! In 2005 it was suggested I join a condition management group, which I did. This was very beneficial and gave me a chance to meet others with similar conditions. I eventually a year later in 2006 got back to work but it wasn’t without its difficulties. I still had blinding fatigue and horrendous pain all over my body. I still had days where my eyes would go blurry and so I could not drive (bear in mind I was a kitchen sales designer covering the entire south west!). I had days where I just couldn’t eat and that combined with a demanding job where I was out the house from noon to night did not fare my body well at all so I decided that I would have to find a similar job at a slower pace and I naively thought that’s all I would need to do. I started working as a showroom manager but the company put me through hell, my more serious symptoms returned and in 2008 I had a complete breakdown. It was at this point I also found out I was pregnant with my second child. I do not really have much recollection of the rest of that year, including the birth of my daughter, and I don’t even remember being in hospital with her or her first Christmas…they call it DD (Dissociative disorder). My body had gone through such trauma that year, physically and mentally, that it had gone in to shut down, removing any memories surrounding that year. They told me that it would only be temporary amnesia but until this day I still remember nothing and I don’t think I will ever get those precious memories back. I look at photos with my husband of things we did that year, hospital baby photo’s, my eldest first day at school etc but still nothing. I gradually got myself back on track from just sheer determination but determination doesn’t take away pain and the tears, it doesn’t stop you being exhausted all the time, it doesn’t stop the migraines etc……it just keeps you ticking along existing rather than living. In 2010 I became desperate, desperate to be the person I used to be and although I had my mental health fully under control the physical symptoms were only getting worse, I started to need crutches again. So I started looking at natural therapy’s, it was at this point I decided that it was time for me to take control, I may have Fibro but I own IT it does not own ME anymore! I tried numerous supplements and I tried so so hard to change my eating habits to nutrient rich foods which are well documented to ease symptoms but by that point with 2 children and my own business it was very difficult…all the supplements on the market were individual based so in order to combat all of my symptoms and associated conditions I would have been rattling like my girls piggy banks! I thought to myself back then why oh why isn’t there a one supplement system that’s easier than pill after pill after pill! I continued to struggle on since then, refusing to give up and having another baby! Am I mad? Yes quite probably! Yes I had days of tears, days of anger with the ‘’why me’’, days I could not get out of bed and days where I am in so much pain it feels like every bone in my body is being crushed by a vice! But still I remain determined as ever! I just wanted to find something to help. I know there is no complete cure but even just a slight decrease in symptoms would be like winning the lottery to me!
