    • So with the recent ACN forum activity, I thought I might take a peek a various ACN reviews across the Internet, and I don't think things look all that great. The sad thing is, somehow, if I didn't know any better, and I looked at the package, the company's appearance, and what they claim to provide, I'd have thought they looked like a really great company. Hell I even like the logo presentation. American Communications Network Inc. is basically a telecommunications company that provides, well, telecommunications. They are stationed in North Carolina where they provide telephone service, high speed Internet, video phone and evidently home security. The company was founded by Greg Provenzano, Mike Cupisz, Robert Stevanovski, and Tony Cupisz. Anyone familiar with these guys can basically tell they have got some collateral, so its hard for me to really understand what the cause is for the common and ever increasing angry ACN review. What I mean is, some of the complaints are so numerous that there just HAS to be truth to them.

If you still cant see what I'm getting at, consider Bill Gates and Microsoft. Say what you want about Vista, it was definitely a pain in the ass, but what if it was far worse than it was? What if it didn't do half of what it claimed? You'd be dumb founded as to why one of the richest individuals in the world would have his company produce a terrible product, and not care, then give you a real hard time trying to get a refund, or outright deny you. Well, ACN is no Microsoft, nor are the founders in the same world as Bill Gates, but the formula is the same. Why did ACN turn out to piss so many people off and appear kind of sucky? Before I get into all the sucky things floating around the Internet, I want to point out that they have an A rating with the BBB, and although that doesn't always mean everything, it certainly means something. They're also a member of the Direct Sellers Association, and that group does have some noteworthy standards. The other thing is, they do seem to be staying afloat, though I'm not certain how well its doing, it says alot in an the mlm industry.

Now to be honest, if you can't already tell, I'm not really qualified to rate a comp plan, I haven't participated in any mlms, let alone enough to compare more than one, but I can say in a review whether or not I would. New ACN representatives are awarded with two starter levels; Customer Representative and Team Trainer. There are also three earned levels; An Executive Team Trainer, A Team Coordinator, and a Regional Vice President. You pay a one-time training and application fee of 99 bucks, but if you want the Team Trainer package, I hope you have the $499 they want for it. Like other mlm comp plans they have a point system and a title hierarchy, like if you want to be an Executive Team Trainer, you need to yield 20 personal billing customers while having also directly sponsored and qualified three Team Trainers. That means helping each of them acquire six long distance customers or eight customers using any ACN service within the specified time.

Probably sounds easy, but one of the biggest complaints that pops up on the Internet is that you bust your ass juggling all these deals, taking calls, attending meetings, and keeping busier than McDonald's employee, only that employee makes more money and makes it more consistently. Obviously its not fair to judge that based on only the negative, but it seems like all the positive reviews only come from articles written by highly biased individuals. Another issue is the quality of their products, starting with the ACN video phone. The point has been made over and over again; who uses a video phone other than another ACN rep? What's wrong with the phone you already have and pay some hefty fees for? To add to the already irritable state of ACN reviews, the phone is said to have horrible picture, and an equally horrible connection quality, then finally to top it all off, if you leave or cancel, you're stuck with the phone, and it won't work without their service, which you need to be a member to "enjoy". See the issue?

Another complaint is that some ACN reps (not all of them obviously) have all but stalked and harrassed some people in an attempt at getting them involved with the company. Now in mentioning this, I'm merely pointing out that something is off somewhere. That kind of behaviour is likely not suggested by ACN, but is there maybe a lack of compensation, a dealine, something in particular that makes some of them go that far? Is it just bad luck that ACN managed to hire a portion of the world's sales psychos? It's tough to say, but if the work vs payout is as bad as many people say, maybe that's the problem. Though, it must be said that a sane person would leave the company before resorting to those kinds of tactics.

Finally, there is the management. What is the biggest most important part of a company's structure when it comes to decision making, planning and direction? The guys in charge right? If the guys in charge could care less to run a competent customer service that actually returns your calls, and doesn't refund you your money for a useless phone, what does that really say? I think the concept of what they offer is great, business all over the world may understand their products, their goals and the market in which they're entering, but what if they have no idea how to set up their technical business network, with office lines, customer service etc. Who would you hire? ACN if only they were awesome. Ultimately, I really don't know where ACN stands, if there were only a few complaints covering these categories, I might not have thought much about them, but there are quite a few, and I find it even more puzzling since as far as I can tell, the founders aren't known cons.

    • What's the deal, does ACN even offer stock to its key people, underlings, does stock for ACN even exist?

    • Well, I'm back.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again people, the ACN saga here continues unfortunately, as now I have a new freshly arrived bill to deal with and am pretty much losing my temper trying to get it all squared away. For those of you that haven't read my other post, I made a go at using ACN's services, and could not possibly think of anything worse to say about it aside from that they are nazis. They aren't really nazis obviously, but I'm pretty ticked. If you're STILL considering ACN, I would definitely recommend making a wiser, more informed choice. Even if you don't go by all my bitching, just read some reviews, some consumer reports, and a few complaints. These aren't just people trying to up the desire for the competition, these reports are completely valid going by my own experience.

This could have been an awesome company, IF they really did have something to offer aside from the over priced pos video phone, and an actual working business model. For those of you that haven't heard of them, ACN Telecommunications is a North Carolina based company that attempts to sell telecommunications services like telephone, high speed Internet, and home security (I can't imagine how secure those people are). ACN was founded by Greg Provenzano, Robert Stevanovski, Mike Cupisz and Tony Cupisz.

As I stated in my other post, I was looking for a new wireless plan, I tried ACN, and their version of a "functioning" customer service department was just awful. I busted my butt trying to recruit, and unfortunately; did manage to get a few people I thought I was helping out on board, but managed to help them accrue some debt as well, and I'm still apologizing for it. I had to go crazy and put in a ton of hours just to make a little cash, it would be easier working 9-5 trust me. Now I mentioned elsewhere that there were some fees that came later, making the bill jump up, well it hasn't ended there. I spent almost an hour on the phone with AT&T, only to find out that it WAS ACN that caused the bill to go up. Upon quitting and managing to get that straightened out, I just got another bill for April services...WTF? Its as if they said: "Yeah your all set, your plan and membership is canceled" but I was the only one who knew it.

    • Interesting way to express your opinion on the ACN Video Phone...but ultimately I have to agree with your assessment.

My niece has an ACN Video Phone and I checked it out during a visit. It looked like a cool gadget, so I asked her to call someone on it. Problem was, the only person she could call on it was her mom, who was the only other person she had signed up in the ACN deal.  And the mom wasn't home...so...

      Not much of a demonstration.

The Video Phone was a very cool Jetson's style device a few year back, but unfortunately the by the time the technology was available ( video compression, etc ) the data speeds over the Internet had increased so much that video over IP just made so much more sense.

Skype, even Yahoo instant messenger offer the same service in the form of video chat or video calls and they're free.

Unless there's something I'm missing, I don't see how ACN's video phone offering can complete with what's currently available at zero expense.

    • If you aren't sure about joining ACN, keep the costs vs profits in mind, compare the two as best you can without actually knowing for sure what kind of money you make.I'm here to share my experience with this company, which really has not been good at all, but I'm not the kind of person to smash and slash with no reason. I was on the market for a new wireless plan because I wasn't happy with the one I had (if only I had known I was going from the pan into the fire).I'll definitely get i nto my issues with ACN Wireless service and plans, but I want to get into a few other problem areas first. ACN seems to like to mask some relatively important things under the guise of "rep points" and other unnecessarry terms. Let me tell you that these rep points do NOT pay off compared to the work that goes in. We're talking hours and hours and hours of phone calls, meetings and other crap just for enough cash to buy a WII. That's not an exaggeration by the way, that is what it has just about amounted to. If I wanted to go that route, I could have easily got a job at any retail outlet and made the same amount of money, only with less work and more consistency. Actually, come to think of it, no direct seller can compete with retail outlets anyway, because you have to sell the same monthly or bi-annual contracts that the franchises do. Its not like you can offer them deals on the newest phones or killer rates.

Making an ACN comission brings you 10% of the monthly bills your customers acrue if you're lucky, provided you have a couple dozen directly under you, whom also have dozens under them. Most people only rake in about 1/2 of 1%. For example, perhaps you have have 20 customers with $100 phone bills.Well, at the end of the month, you'll make about 10 bucks. People need to really go over the starter materials and question all statistics and figures. Now, like me, you learned all this the hard way and hit the bail button. Guess what: Its an absolute atrocity trying to deal with their customer service, on virtually every possible level, right down the highly ironic dropped call while on hold. Now the wireless quality wasn't too bad, I can't complain there, but there were some fees tacked on later that made the bill higher than what I had before. I contacted ACN asking what was going on, and they said it was likely ATT fees, well that didn't make sense saying as it was my ACN bill in question. I never stuck around long enough to figure that one out, I just quit, and happily so.

I'm not one to write these types of trash-it-up posts, but it sure seems like ACN is a straight up scam, I wasn't given any type of refund, and only lost money overall, alot actually.I was charged 50 bucks after I got my cell ordered by an ACN representative, When I called the company, they said I had ordered through a website, which apparently the rep did. After trying repeatedly to reach that rep, her phone was no longer in service and I never heard from her again.Initially, I didn't care about the loss, or the rep, I was still really into the concept, so I stuck around, and I'm really sorry I did. Here are the lessons I learned about ACN and company's like it.

Selling for ACN makes you a contractor not an employee. There are some major differences between the two. You don't get to participate in the money influx of a "franchise" with ACN. You are basically giving them cash for permission to sell their stuff and recruit others. As a fresh ACN recruit, you are a lowbie sales contractor, working the lowest, most primitive job in the sales world. Its the equivilant of being a drop-out with a cleaning rag at Burger King, which most of us consider the bottom of the industry barrel. You will make a pay check, but what will it cost you?

    • Hello to you Arthur, I wonder if it would be ok for me to present to you some of the questions I have gathered about American communications Network in order to get some answers from a true ACN rep such as yourself. You see I have been unable get a response from ACN and since you have such great pride and confidence in your company I know that I can count on you for a response my friend!

My first question is in the return policies of ACN , it comes to my attention that several members had attempted to cancel their membership and return their products which in some cases totaled close to $800, and were told they could not cancel after 3 days. It took longer than 3 days for the merchandise to be shipped to them, leaving it virtually impossible to return products to ACN. On top of this, there is also a $190 cancellation fee, could you please explain to me how this can be?

In regard to American Communications Network training, I have heard that ACN offers and suggests in its membership details that members receive this, however when events are actually attended, they are in fact pep rallies, with little to no actual training involved, is this true?

ACN is charging $400 for your popular video phone, but it is becoming increasingly evident that the same product can be bought for $100 and with cheaper rates. As people are learning this, they choose to leave ACN, and upon doing so call to ask permission to sell their phone to other members, but ACN says the phones are permanently programmed to specific numbers, leaving them useless once the plan is canceled, Is this not true?

There are rumors that American Communications Network has had several issues with high pressure salesman, to the point of law enforcement getting involved. Such complaints include phone calls at early hours in the morning, phone calls at work even when no work number was given to the rep. In one case, an individual known as Mark Speros, the CEO of PC Help Desk (similar to Geek Squad) ran a computer shop in which he placed adds to hire some help for his personal computer repair business, however when applicants showed up for their interviews, they were instead treated to a lecture and pep talk about American Communications Network. Does ACN have strict policies that govern and monitor within reason, the behavior of its representatives?

Please take your time in answering these questions and I gracefully and lovingly thank you ahead of time. I hope to hear good things about ACN in the future and that perhaps you might be able and willing to dispel any rumors and slanders against your company.

      Much peace to you.

    • Howdy everyone...

I'd like to take the time to ask you; each and every one of you all how you feel about the way in which your home business communicates with the rest of the world. Please take a moment and ask yourself that very question as you read this. I am here to tell you now that without good communications, you have very little security, and a large, gaping, scary hole with which problems may come tumbling out. As any "legitimate" home business entrepreneur knows, communications are used to promote your product, spread word abut your service, help you organize and relay information within the business; or deal with legal issues. It also acts as a bridge that relays information between you, your supply chain, and the consumer. So you tell me exactly how you think you can run a great business without the right means of communication.
